Extremely small and tiny paper note pad like "book" not worth the money and shame on any seller here who are selling those type of "books" for 10 pounds, as they are not worth more than 1 pound. There are very little to almost none of images, but the descriptions are worth enough to remedy that.
I'm giving it one star. I had to use google to find out what that even meant. She also used the Victorian word "courtesan " for "prostitute" which nobody outside Oxford University would know. It is a manual, not a novel nor a pornographic compendium of sexual positions. Good edition for study as a historian. I bought the book for an Anthropology course. Usually I would donate it to the school library but this book I am keeping. I love the diversity of Humankind. I am happy with the book.
However, my husband's interest in the book completely deflated when he saw that it did not contain any illustrations. I guess I will need to read it and draw him pictures. A scholarly presentation of an indian classic by a scholar who is at least as interested in demonstrating the breadth of her vocabulary as she is in communicating something of of substance to the reader.
I have a PhD in one of the humanities and got a bit tired of dragging my dictionary around in order to translate phrases that could have been easily and effectively put into plain English. Who new. You've read the top international reviews. Back to top.

Later as the worship spread to the east Garo hills, the goddess manifest of a 'yoni' goddess Kamakhya was created. His interest in human sexual behavior as a medium of attaining spirituality was recorded in his treatise Kama Sutra. After reading and considering the works of Babhravya and other ancient authors, and thinking over the meaning of the rules given by them, this treatise was composed, according to the precepts of the Holy Writ, for the benefit of the world, by Vatsyayana, while leading the life of a religious student at Benares, and wholly engaged in the contemplation of the Deity. This work is not to be used merely as an instrument for satisfying our desires. A person acquainted with the true principles of this science, who preserves his Dharma virtue or religious merit , his Artha worldly wealth and his Kama pleasure or sensual gratification , and who has regard to the customs of the people, is sure to obtain the mastery over his senses. In short, an intelligent and knowing person attending to Dharma and Artha and also to Kama, without becoming the slave of his passions, will obtain success in everything that he may do.
